Rena E. O’Neill, born on March 9, 1942, passed on March 4, 2021 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Rena is survived by many friends that were her family at 630 Salem St., in Malden MA. As a resident for over 20 years, Rena made friends easily, and was always ready with her record player or radio to share her music with others in the Community Room. Rena was also the candy supplier to her friends in the building, however, she kept her beloved diet pepsi all for herself!
Rena worked at First National Bank for 20 years. She was a member of the 630 Club in her building and attended weekly mass at her parish church St. Joseph’s in Maplewood square. Rena loved to crochet and would always be seen with a bag of yarn either beside her or in her lap wherever she was. She generously donated many of her blankets to charity drives that took place over the years at St. Joe’s.
Rena was very loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street (Maplewood Square) on Saturday, March 13th at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10 o'clock. Committal Services will be private.
For those attending, Covid-19 protocols will be place. Face coverings are mandatory, social distancing maintained and contact tracing information will be obtained in the Funeral Home as well as at Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 790 Salem Street, Malden, MA 02148.
In the near future, when it is safe for all, a Celebration of Rena's Life will be held.
