Helen L. (Pentis) Jameson

May 3, 1916 ~ December 18, 2017 (age 101) 101 Years Old

Helen L. Jameson, Malden Piano Teacher until age 97, died at age 101 at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River on December 18th, Helen was the daughter of the late Jessie and James Pentis. She was born in Brookfield, Illinois in 1916. When she was 6, a relative started her on the piano and by 16 she was playing the Methodist Church organ. Later she was the pianist for the high school orchestra. After earning a Bachelor of Music degree at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, she soloed with a few orchestras playing the Grieg Concerto.

Helen married Everett C. Jameson in 1947 and moved to the Boston area. She played many recitals for the Beethoven Society. She was not interested in Contests or promoting herself, but had a burning desire to give education to other people. During over seventy-five years of teaching, she instilled in hundreds of students the joy of music enriching their lives. She enjoyed accompanying many of her advanced piano students on her Wurlitzer organ.

Helen is survived by her son, Everett R. Jameson and his wife Karen of Newport, Rhode Island, her grandsons, Douglas Jameson and his wife Melissa Hullman of Maryland and Stephen Jameson and his wife, Dr. Erlinda Embuscado of Maryland and her great grand children, Autumn and Jasper.

Helen was a member of the Good Shepard United Methodist Church where her grand piano is now used in her memory in the fellowship hall.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Good Shepard United Methodist Church, 577 Salem Street, Malden on Friday, December 29th at 11 o'clock. Services will conclude with interment at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
