BAEZ, Berta Maria (Vega)- In Malden, of Chelsea on July 12th at the age of 82. Devoted wife for many decades to Hilton J. Baez. Beloved mother of Lourdes Vega Melendez, Zuleima Vega Melendez, Hilton Baez, Moises Baez, Jose A. Baez, Jeanette M. Baez, Kenneth J. Baez and her grandson Moises Baez, Jr. who she raised from childhood. Sister of Maria Emelinda Vega Melendez, Ines Vega Melendez and Lidia Vega Melendez. Cherished grandmother of Hilton, Ruben, Jalen, Gianna and Annalyse. Also lovingly survived by many neices and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Smith-Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Thursday, July 18th at 11:30 AM. Visitation with the family beginning at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. 

Born in Lajas, Puerto Rico to Alberto Vega and Felicita Melendez Cotte, Berta passed away at Dexter House Healthcare late Friday afternoon. Prior to retirement she was a registered nurse and worked for many years at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. She was a devoted homemaker to her family and was a beautiful and strong minded woman but was the greatest mother.
